Palestinian-American Adolescent Freed After Nine Months in Israeli Custody

A Palestinian-American teenager after completing 270 days in Israeli detention without being charged has been freed.

Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old when he was arrested last February throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, which he previously denied.

American diplomatic officials applauded Mohammed's liberation.

Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization right after being freed, relatives told the media.

According to them, he appears visibly pale and thin, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

Via family representatives, the youth's uncle spoke of the family's "immense relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, our priority is getting Mohammed prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after experiencing Israel's abuse and cruel circumstances over several months."

The state department stated they would maintain to provide consular support for the Ibrahim family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to ensuring the safety for United States citizens"," the department emphasized.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers endorsed a document to the state department and the White House, urging greater action to release him.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, receiving updates exclusively regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

He stayed without charge at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.

The facility also contains mature inmates, featuring prisoners sentenced for major terrorist activities and murder.

An estimated 350 Palestinian child security detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Numerous remain uncharged and human rights groups, as well as the United Nations, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin Sayfollah Musallet.

This young American-Palestinian according to health authorities succumbed to assault by radical settlers following tensions in July.

During that period, the Israeli military said officials were investigating information regarding a civilian had died.

Both young men collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.

No charges have been filed regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We demand United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
