Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital follows the sports world shared condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
